The Grant Tigers defeated rival Newaygo Wednesday night 60-3. Getting wins were Emma Morey (pin), Jake Breen, Billy Ostyn, Joe Millett, Jagarr Jenerou (pin), Hunter Humphreys, Jimmy Montney, Drew Luoma, Caleb Thompson (pin), Austin Ulrich (pin) and Gabe Castro.
The Tigers then lost to Chippeway Hills 15-60. Picking up wins were Billy Ostyn (pin), Jagarr Jenerou, and Jimmy Montney (pin). The Wrestling Tigers are 10-5 on the season as a team and travel to Kingsley Saturday the 6th for a 10 team tournament. The Fremont Packers also posted a conference victory over the Lions Wednesday by a 72-10 margin. At heavyweight, Chaz Wheater tallied the first win of the match with a pin against Mikey Lafontsee in 1:02. Eli Beasley followed with a pin against Mara Johnson. Elijah Rought posted a fall against Aiden Culver at the 189 pound weight class and in the 152 pound bout, Cade Breuker used a counter to an upper body throw to pin state qualifier Makiah McCracken in 1:38. Cody Routley, Matthew Long, Jager Kibart, Matthew Halasinski, Zach Anderson, Parker Dalson, and Timo Virtanen all received wins with a forfeit. The Fremont grapplers fared less well when they faced Chippewa Hills who defeated the Packers 67-10. Cody Routly scored a major decision 11-2 and Cade Breuker pinned Trenton Wiggins in 40 seconds. The CH Warriors are currently ranked third in the state.
