Prior to Tuesday the Lions had been practicing outdoors to comply with the state order of gyms remaining closed. While it was eerily quiet and unusually small attendance due to each player only being allowed to invite two spectators. But that did not stop the Lions from teeming with excitement to actually be playing in a gymnasium against another team not named Lions. Central Montcalm came to town and showed that they were ready to start the season with a bang. Both JV and Varsity Lions fell to the Hornets in three straight sets, but not without a fight. Varsity scores were 18-25, 23-25, 18-25. Newaygo's Varsity Team plays at home in a tri against Shelby and Hesperia starting at 5 PM.
