White Cloud 3 Lakeview 1 The Lady Indians defeated Lakeview by a score of 3-1 in Volleyball action. “After taking the first set 25-21 we got a slow start and came up short the 2nd by a score of 23-25,” said Coach Strait. “The 3rd game was won fairly easily by a score of 25-11 and we fought back after trailing early to win the ffourth set 25-18.” Leading scorers were Isabel Karnes with 17 points and 1 ace, followed by Olivia Bowman with 13 points and 1 ace. Alexis Strait led the team with 20 assists while Bowman and Hallie Schulz capitalized with 10 and 6 kills respectively. Strait also posted 6 kills on the night. Back row play was led by Emily Feldpausch and Isabel Karnes with 10 digs each. With the win over the Wildcats the Cloud pushes their season record to 15-3. Morley Stanwood 3 Hesperia 0 The match between Hesperia and Morley Stanwood featured a pair of 4-0 teams in the Silver fighting for the top spot in the conference The Mohawks jumped to an early lead but the Panthers were not backing down. The hosts caught up and battled tightly with the Mohawks throughout the set before falling short by 24-26. Game 2, started with the Panthers jumping on top before once again seeing the lead start to seesaw through the set. Hesperia had a 5 point lead at one point during game 2 but allowed MS back into the game to capture a 24-26 win.. The Cats struggled with finding their offensive rhythm at the start of the third, but clawed their way back to forge a 17 all tie before falling to the ‘Hawks 20-25 The loss moves the Panthers to 4-1 on the season, heading into the 2nd half, with a 20-9 overall season record. Offensive leaders were Emily Bayle (7kills), Ally Bayle (6 Kills), and Alyssa Miller (6 kills). Kyra Sayer and Aria Thomas had 9 and 8 assists respectively on the night. Miller led on digs (12) followed by Emily Bayle with 9 digs. Both Emily and Ally Bayle came away with a single block on the night. Ally Bayle led at the serving line with 5 aces. Rachel Romero and Alyssa Miller each had a single ace. The Panthers have the Homecoming Weekend off before their face- off against Holton @ home next Wednesday, September 26th.
