WC Coach Strait: Last night the Lady Indians opened up the second half of our season with a home match against Hesperia. The first set we took a demanding lead with a score of 25-13. The second set we struggled serving and returning serves. After losing the second set, 20-25, we were able to close out the match with a win with scores of 25-16, 25-14. Carsyn Scarlavai and Jaden Gomez led the night with 5 aces. Aby Derks had a huge night at the net with 16 kills. Carsyn led our offense with 27 assists. The back row was led by Jaden and Elizabeth Compeau with 18 digs each. Hesperia Coach Grimard: We’re still running on a skeleton crew without our full squad and full time setter due to covid quarantines, yet, we were able to pull out a win in game 2 against the Indians. The offense was led by Alex Glenn with 4 kills and a group effort from Caity Frees, Elli McAree, Emma Joppich, and Kayla Rumsey all with 3 kills for the Panthers. Emmet Tinkham had 6 assists and Ali Townsend served a couple aces. Defensively, Joppich had 13 digs along with 12 digs each from Tinkham and Glenn. McAree and Tinkham led with 2 blocks with help from 1 block each from Frees, Glenn, and Joppich. The Panthers are off for the Homecoming weekend and will continue with league play on Wednesday, October 6th at Lakeview.
