Tuesday Results: Packers Drop 2; Cloud Splits, Panther, Lion Girls Win

GR Union 39 Fremont 35
Coach Zerlaut: “The Packers fell behind early in this one, trailing 10-0 before they scored on a Paige Vandenberg free throw. Calla Miller then hit a three before the end of the quarter to make it 12-4 after one. The second quarter was all Fremont, outscoring Union 11-0, to set the score at 15-12 at the half, with Fremont in the lead. Union hit three triples in the third quarter to outscore the Packers 17-11, and took a three point lead into the fourth quarter. The Packers didn't back down, but turnovers and missed shots in the paint prevented them from getting closer than 37-35 in the final minute of the game.” 
Paige Vandenberg finished the game with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the Packers, while Natalie Jamieson had 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Chloe Shriver also added 4 steals. The loss drops the Packers overall record to 8-4. They remain undefeated in conference play at 7-0, and host Reed City on Friday.

Jaxi Long led the Lions with 16 points, 6 deflections and 3 steals.  Emmerson Goodin had 10 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Jaylee Long had 8 points.

Coach Grodus: “We got off to a good start offensively, with Emmi Tinkham hitting 9 points in the first quarter. This was our 4th win in our last 5 games.”
Emily Bayle canned a game high 29 points while Tinkham pulled down 14 boards to go with her 13 points. Rachell Romero also hit for 13 while grabbing 5 steals and Beccii Castillo dished out 8 assists.

Coach Brown: “The Lady Indians traveled to Chippewa Hills Tuesday night and imposed their defensive will to capture the win.  White Cloud was led by Alexis Strait with 26 points, 6 steals, and 3 assists. Olivia Bowman added 9 points which included 3 from downtown.  Layna Yeiter chipped in 6 points and 12 rebounds. It was a great team effort as White Cloud continues to shut teams down with their ferocious defense.  Well done ladies!”

Aidan Poling hit for 12 points, Lukas Ramaekers scored 11 and Wyatt Monette added 9 in the Red Devil win. 
Holton is now 7-4 overall and play at Hesperia Friday
