Holton stretched out an 19-11 lead in the 2nd quarter before White Cloud came back to cut into a single point at intermission .White Cloud jumped out a 33-25 lead in the third quarter before Holton came back led by Aidan Poling and Wyatt Monette who both hit multiple key shots for the Red Devils. Newaygo (3-0, 4-0) Tri-County jumped out early on Newaygo 7-0 3 minutes into the game. But Newaygo outscored TC 15-6 in the 2nd quarter to lead at the half 27-19. Alexis Strait stuffed the stat sheets with 27 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 steals. Cassie Watson added 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals and Carsyn Scarlavai dropped in 8 points while nabbing 3 steals. “Carsyn Scarlavai continues to be a headache for the opposing team,”added Brown.”She consistently changes the game with her defense” Ryann Robins led the Red Devils with 8 points with teammate Gianna Reed hitting for a half dozen. Holton (1-2, 1-2) is back at it tomorrow as they host Ravenna. Whilte Cloud (2-1, 2-2) has a day off before heading for Lakeview for a Thursday contest. Grant 41 Fremont 33 The bitter cold that had settled outside the gym made its way onto the court as both teams began the night a bit chilly when it came to putting the ball in the basket. The Tigers and Packers opened the game with a combined 1-25 from the field resulting in the teams mercifully ending the first period with the hosts holding a 3-2 lead. The offensive output improved slightly before the half as the teams went to their locker rooms for the break with Fremont holding a 15-10 edge. The Tigers came out of the break with their shooting touch intact as they busted out from long range raining down a quartet of triples to overtake and pass the Pack whose offensive woes continued. The visitors entered the final frame holding a 33-23 lead. Fremont made a run in the fourth pulling to within 5 points but the Tigers held them off to claim the conference win. Calla Miller led Fremont with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Kaitlynn Bennett had 9 rebounds, and Haley Zerlaut chipped in 6 points and 4 assists. Grant was led by Sara Arends' 14 points and Chloee Chase finished with 8. Fremont (0-3, 0-3) heads to Tri County Friday while Grant (2-1, 2-2) will host their long time rivals from Newaygo.
