But magic had nothing to do with the Tigers victory over the visiting Wildcats. A strong defensive effort kept the pressure on Lakeview and forced turnovers that led to touchdowns. The Cats fumbled 3 times and threw an interception as Grant put a W on the board for the first time since their season opener. Coming off a forfeit due to injuries that left the team too thin to compete and a trio of beatdowns, the Tigers responded with a balanced offensive attack to go with a dynamic defensive showing. Coach Lowry: “We really put our focus the last few weeks on Team and our kids responded and were able to go out there and play 4 quarters of unselfish football. This was a great Team win tonight.” Eddie Beight ran for 86 yards crossing the goal line twice from 3 yards out and 4 yards out. Aiden Booth tacked on 68 yards and tallied an 11 yard TD and busted one in from a yard out. QB Jayden Newton hit Sincere Hatch twice for 21 yards. Paul Bonney led the team in tackles with 8 solo and 2 assists and recovered a fumble while Beight collected 5 solo tackles, forced one fumble and recovered 2. Rico Robinson also forced a fumble and Hatch who caught two passes on offense added one on defense with a pick. Grant (0-3, 2-4) will travel north next week to face a surging Reed City squad.
