The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan announced their awards for the 2021=22 season.
Since 1988 BCAM has given Academic All State honors to student athletes. To qualify, players must be nominated by their BCAM coach, be either a junior or a senior, have a GPA of at least 3.5 and be listed on one of the All-State Teams: Associated Press, Detroit News, Detroit Free Press, or BCAM's BEST. These are the area players who earned the honor and the impressive GPAs they bring to the table. Jaxi Long Newaygo 4.60 Bryce Decker Newaygo 4.03 Emmerson Goodin Newaygo 3.94 Jordan McDonald Fremont 3.64 Logan Nelson Fremont 3.86 BCAM Best are the top players in the state who were nominated by their BCAM member coach. Seniors Emmerson Goodin and Jaxi Long of Newaygo were both named to the BCAM All State Girls Team. Grant senior Seth Schuitema was named to the BCAM All State Boys Team while Newaygo junior Bryce Decker, Fremont junior Jordon McDonald and Fremont senior Logan Nelson each received Honorable Mention. Jaxi Long finished second in the state in free throw percentage hitting on 73 of her 83 attempts for a sparkling 87.95 mark. Julianne Hernandez of Fremont received one of BCAM’s Team First Awards. This team member is the person that most exemplifies putting team before self, teamwork, commitment, service and sacrifice.
