Panthers keep rolling, Grant netmen fall to state ranked O’s. Packers pepper the nets
VBall Hesperia moves to 4-0 in conference play Coach Grimard: The Lady Panthers improved their record to 4-0 in the CSAA tonight after a long evening in Kent City. The MS Panthers made their debut tonight for the 4:00 game, followed by the JV who won (2-1) over the Eagles. The Varsity Squad had the final round, winning their sets 25-6, 25-13, 25-21 over the host Kent City. Emily Bayle lead the Panther attack with 12 kills, Rachel Romero 11 kills, and Isabelle Rumsey had 4 kills. Rumsey also had 3 aces, Bayle and Delaney Yates each added 2 aces for the Panthers. Defensively, Bayle lead with 9 digs, Romero and Adriana Escobedo had 7 and 5 digs respectively. Aria Thomas had 14 assists and Kyra Sayer had 11 assists. The Panthers will play again next Wednesday, September 25th at Morley Stanwood for the top of the conference showdown. The Panthers are 17-6-1 on the season. Tennis Ludington 7 Grant 1 Zerlaut ties school mark in Tiger loss Grant played host to the state ranked #8 Ludington team tonight. The guys played hard and got the #1 doubles and #4 doubles matches into the third sets, but lost them both 6-4. The Tigers top player, Karlton Zerlaut, picked up his 74th career win (all at #1 singles), with a 6-3 7-5 victory. This ties him with former All State Doubles player Tyler "Skinny" Smith for the most wins in a career at GHS. The team heads to South Christian for the Sailor Invite Saturday. Soccer Fremont 8, Reed City 0 Converse, Moon tally 2 apiece The Coyotes traveled to Fremont on Thursday afternoon to take on the Packers in a conference match. Lane Converse and Carter Moon scored two goals each while Waden Woods, Wyatt VanBoven, Joe Kortge, and Anselmo Velazco netted single tallied. Fremont outshot Reed City 28-3. Joe Kortge and Ed Hallberg combined for 3 saves for Fremont while Reed City keeper Jordon Lorquist made 20 saves. The Packers move to 7-3-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the conference while Reed City falls to 3-10-1 overall and 1-1-4 in the conference.
