Lions, Tigers, Vikes at home while Packers hit the road
Wednesday Montague (9-5-1) at Newaygo (5-6) 5pm The Lions started the season by peeling off 4 wins in a row and outsourcing opponents 22-2. Since then, though they have gone 1-6 with 4 of those losses coming against league leaders Fremont and TC. The Wildcats don’t always score a lot but their defense is pretty solid. How solid? They handed Fremont their only loss of the season by a 1-0 score. Oakridge (5-2-3) at Grant (2-8) 7pm The Tigers snapped a 6 game losing streak with a high scoring 6-4 win over Reed City in the conference tourney. The Eagles have won 5 but only one win came over a team with a winning record. It’s been a tough year for Grant but if they get on the board early at home and show some Tiger tenacity on defense they will be moving on in the postseason Orchard View (1-14-1) at Tri County (8-3) 6pm The Vikes wanted another shot at Fremont but they stumbled against Big Rapids on their way to the showdown. TC is a solid team and the Cardinals have won just once while being shut out 10 times Thursday Fremont (13-1-2) at Ludington (10-4-1) 6:30pm Two powerhouse teams facing each other in the first round making a good argument for seeding. The Packers have pitched 10 shutouts and scored over 6 goals seven times. They tore through conference play and the conference tourney. The Orioles have lost just once in their last 10 games, a 1-0 defeat at the hands (well, feet I guess) of Fremont in Packer territory. This one is in Ludington and the O’s would love to avenge that loss in the postseason.
