Nelson, Borgman toss a couple of gems
Photos by Kacey Nelson and LIsa Vliem Fremont 6 Thornapple Kellogg 0 In the opener Logan Nelson, usually found on the other end of the Fremont battery, scattered a six pack of hits as he shut down the Trojans for the Packer win. Nelson sat down 7 on strikes and helped his cause with 3 hits and an RBI. Michael Baden also collected a trio of hits while Carl Vliem and Joey DeLong each plated a teammate in Fremont’s 3 run 3rd inning. Fremont 7 Delton Kellogg 2 In the title game Paxton Borgman made his first varsity experience a memorable one as he picked up the win with 6 strong innings yielding a pair of runs on 6 hits while striking out 8. The Pack pulled away with a 5 run rally in the 5th. Brendon Maka, Nelson, Borgman and Joe Drzewicki collected key hits for Fremont. The Packers are back in action Wednesday hosting a double dip with Newaygo (first game 4:15pm) before heading to Marsh Field in Muskegon for a Friday Night Lights game against former Lakes 8 rival Spring Lake. Game time 7pm.
