CSAA Gold Jamboree 1 @ Newaygo Overcast and mid 60s Fremont: The girls placed 6th with 167 points. Of the 8 girls who ran, all posted a season record or personal record. Taava Johnson (sr) led the way with a SR in 7th place. Elise Pfeiffer placed 30th as our second finisher, with Rachel Maddox (fr), Gina Naes (sr) and Shyann Callison (fr) rounding out our top 5. The squad continues to improve each meet. The boys placed 1st with 29 points. Henrik Quist (jr), Carter Sherman (fr), and Luke Bradley (fr) all scored PR’s in today’s. The boys executed a good race plan and moved up well throughout the race, and we had a pretty tight pack in 4-6. We also had some shuffling of our top seven, which was good to see the guy pushing each other. The girls placed 5th as a team with 102 points. 13 Newaygo girls ran season bests or personal records on this hilly, difficult course. The ladies were led by sophomore Remington Arney, who was nudged out of 2nd place by a mere .05 seconds to take 3rd with a time of 20:26. Rounding out the top five runners in scoring position were Eliza Chaffee (24:03), Olivia DeJohn (24:08), Zoey Walerczyk (24:40), and Lyda Lathrop (25:57). Five boys ran for Newaygo this afternoon. They were led by senior Michael Murray with a time of 20:19, bettering his time on the same course from just over a week ago by more than a minute. Mallaci Mayle ran in a season best time of 20:50 followed by Jadon Ryman (21:53), Bryce Grugett (22:02 SR) and Luke Acton (24:33). The Lions next run at Allendale on October 2.
