Holton 55 Shelby 42 Coach Jordan: “We needed a game like this, the last 4 have been routs so it was good for us to have a game that was closer. We were up 15 after 3 but then had about 3-4 minutes of the fourth where we were playing like we were behind, rushing shots and that let them get back on the game a little. Had to call a timeout and remind the girls that we want to run clock and stall a little which would bring them out of there zone and into man defense. When they did we got two easy buckets to stretch the lead a little. Credit to Shelby they didn’t go away and cut it from a 17 point lead to an 11 at one point in the 4th. “Layla Cannady showed up for us tonight. She is our best shooter by far but has been in a little bit of a slump all season… she hit4 3’s and led us in scoring with 18. We were joking before the game and she told me tonight was the night and that we were gonna manifest it, I believe in that stuff so she had the right mindset and it panned out for her. “Balance will always be our best and we had it again tonight. Aubrey Goyings had a great night on both sides of the ball with 8 points 10 rebounds , and continues to do the dirty work night in and out and that doesn’t show up in the stat sheet but is so needed. "Ryann Robins had her 6th double double of the year with 10 and 10, Abbie Fowler dished out 6 assists to go with her 13 points and “Game Time” Lexi Bart as we call her hit another couple 3 balls for us. “We still have so much room to improve, boxing out has been bad these past few games and we still are struggling from the free throw line, which will hurt us if we don’t improve. But we are 6-1 on the season .. riding a 5 game win streak and have a rematch with White Cloud on Monday.” Boys White Cloud 71 Pentwater 33 Make it 4 in a row for the Cloud as they soared past the Falcons in a non conference matchup. White Cloud (8-2, 2-1) travels to Holton (1-11, 0-4) for a rematch with the Red Devils. Fremont 68 Tri County 42 Coach Bowen: “ We had good balance on offense and I thought we were solid defensively. We were able to get out in transition and did a good job of attacking when we had those opportunities. We have played much better the last two games and I think we are starting to gain some confidence. Chaz Miller led the team with 16 points. He also added 6 steals and 3 assists. Gavin Richards had a big game with 12 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Will DeBlake finished with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals and Ben Mellema added 12 points.
