The Fremont Packers opened up their home duals of the season with two CSAA Gold Conference wins. In the first bout the host Packers downed Big Rapids 66-17. The match started at the 189 pound weight class with Kyler Kolk winning, followed by a win from Payton Mansfield at 215 pounds. At 285, Chaz Wheater pinned Jacob Allen in just 48 seconds. Other victories were tallied by RJ Thome, Gage Breuker, Matt Long, Gage Montague, and Caden Christoffersen. Additional Packers that posted pins were Eli Beasley, Trey Breuker and Chase Knudsen. Against Tri County, the Packers came out on top by 61-18. Kyler Kolk again started off with a 9-5 win, Austin Kukal won at heavyweight, RJ Thome pinned in 1 minute and 3 seconds and Eli Beasley pinned in 5:27. At 119, Gage Breuker had a fall against Nathan Smits, pinning in 1:24. Cody Routley pinned in 1:39 and Matt Long won 13-0. At 140, Jager Kibart pinned Julian Abbott in 2:41. Trey Breuker and Chase Knudsen also both won by pins and Emily Bish wrapped up the dual with a win. The Packers’ Wrestling Team is now 21-4. Coach Craig Zeerip and Coach Jeff Thome expressed their pride at the team effort demonstrated by their squad on the night.
