Photos by Alexis Mercer End of regulation score: 2-2 Final score: Fremont: 3, Newaygo: 2 The Packers traveled to Newaygo Thursday evening with the conference tournament up for grabs. Newaygo struck first on a Francisco Rios's goal 15 minutes into the match. The Packers answered 10 minutes later. Lane Converse sent a ball to the foot of Kasidy Wright for the finish. Fremont went up by one when Wright drove a ball to Carter Moon's head for the go ahead goal. The score was 2-1 in favor of Fremont at the half. The second half was full of back and forth action but Newaygo's Rios once again got free for the equalizer with just 11 minutes remaining in the half. The score remained 2-2 at the end of regulation. The match went to a penalty kick shootout. Fremont made 4 while Newaygo made 3. Joe Kortge, Kasidy Wright, David Wachter, and Grant Vissia finished their penalty kicks for Fremont. Newaygo's three made shots were by Angel Guevara, Francisco Rios and Noah Painter. Kortge made two saves in net during the shootout for Fremont. Fremont outshot Newaygo 12-6. Kortge ended with 4 saves while Newaygo's keeper Matthew Richardson made 10 saves. Fremont claimed a share of the conference title with the Newaygo with the victory. Newaygo won the conference regular season while Fremont won the conference tournament. Fremont moved to 13-3-4 overall and 8-0-2 in the conference while Newagyo fell to 14-2-1 overall and 8-1-1 in the conference.
