District Champs!

Tigers haul in some hardware

On Thursday  the Grant Tigers won the Team District championship.  Grant opened by defeating Newaygo 60-24.  Waiting for them in the finals were the Fremont Packers.  Fremont jumped out to a 16-6 lead with only Haydon Kass getting a pin for the Tigers, before heavyweight Evan Clouser got a second period pin for Grant to turn the tide. Antonio Santana and Malachi Dawe picked up more pins for the Tigers.  At one of the swing matches of the day Grant's Shawn Warmuskerken picked up a 21-19 win at 126lbs to keep Grant's momentum. Alex Russo (tech fall) and Kashton Atwood (pin) effectively put the dual out of reach for the Packers, the eventual score being 38-34. 
Grant wrestles against Grand Rapids Catholic Central  Wednesday February 12th at the Whitehall Regionals. Match begins at 5:30pm.
