Holton 11 Frankfort 1
Holton 19 Onekama 2 In 2015 Holton blasted their way to the quarterfinals and defeated Coleman before falling in the semis to eventual champion Unionville Sebewaing The following year the Red Devils once again got past the Comets in the quarters and fell in the semis, this time to Indian Lakes. In 2017 Colemen returned the favor getting the win and a shot at the semifinals Then last year Frankfort stalled the Holton quest for the quarters knocking them out before losing in the round of 8 to...Coleman of course. This year the Devils were determined to return for another shot at playing in the final four so they dispatched the Eagles11-1 then cruised past the Portagers of Onekema 10-2 to take their game to Hope College where they will face a familiar foe. The Comets Kylie Gould whiffed 10 Eagles in the opener then fanned another 15 Portagers in the final to take both wins from the slab.Riley Legard ripped a trio of hits in the finals with Gould and Haylee Brant adding 2 each. Brant also recorded a pair of hits in the opener. Standish Sterling 9 Hesperia 0 The Panthers won the title but it was the Standish Sterling variety who will be moving on. Hesperiamanaged just a Becci Castillo hit while Caragan Frees reached base on an error and a walk. Those proved to be the only time the Panthers (Hesperia) were on the basepaths and combined with 7 errors on defense gave SS the win. “We ran into a real solid team today, Said Coach Bolles.”We were putting the ball in play, but we weren’t getting solid knocks.Their pitcher did a good job of keeping us off balance.” It’s tough to end the season this way, but I’m so proud of this group. We had a great run, we finished 22-15 on the season and 12-8 in the CSAA Silver which was a 3rd place finish. We also won a District Championship- the 3rd one in the last 29 years. “We are losing 6 quality seniors who we will miss, but on the bright side we have some quality underclassmen and our JV’s had a great season, so we’re disappointed today, but excited for the future of Hesperia Softball.”
