Slowik, Palmer dominate on the mound
Baseball Holton 2 Zion Christian 1 Nathan Slowik tossed a gem and Drew Trygstad’s squeeze bunt in the 4th brought home Austin Fowler with what proved to be the winning run in the 4th inning as the Red Devils advanced to face Muskegon CC on Saturday at noon. Slowik fanned 9 without a walk scattering 6 hits in the process and added a pair of hits to the cause. Fowler also tallied a Pair of hits scoring both of Holton’s runs. Hart 8 White Cloud 6 Oakridge 6 Grant 4 Softball Hesperia 13 Shelby 0 In Manistee the Panthers wasted no time scoring 5 times in the opening inning and shutting down the Tigers behind the 2 hit 5 inning shutout performance by Ellie Palmer who got the win from the slab while setting down 9 players on strikes. Daelyn McKinnon ripped a double and a single, Alyssa Miller drove home 2, Lynnsey Tinkham plated 3 teammates and Natalie McGahan drove home a run with a double and single. “Proud of where my team is at this point of the season,” said Coach Bolles. “We’re peaking at the right time. Hopefully we continue to progress along come Saturday.” Hesperia moves on to face Hart in a semifinal matchup Saturday at 10 am.
