![]() Friday Roundup: Cloud sweeps ‘Cats ‘Hawks cage Panthers, Chips top RD’s Boys Holton 44 Kent City 40 In a grueling back and forth game the Eagles and Red Devils duked it out through four quarters and a pair of overtimes with Holton pulling out the win and keeping their hold on the top spot in the Silver. The Devs inched ahead in the first then took a 7 point lead at the half only to see KC claw their way back in the third before ending regulation knotted at 30. Coach Swanson:”It was an incredible back and for the game between these two rivals. Aidan Poling of Holton and Kyler Larsen of Kent City made multiple huge shots down the stretch of this one. In the end it came down to a couple clutch free throws by Holton's Brodrick Fialek and a couple huge steals by Holton's Carter Brant which helped create the final margin. “I'm so proud of our players. Those guys have so much fight in them it's incredible to watch time after time. I'm just lucky to have them. An amazing group.” Poling led all scorers with a 23 point performance adding a quartet of steals. Fialek counted 8 points and Wyatt Monette scooped 10 boards off the glass to go with his half dozen tallies. Kyler Larson led the Eagles with 17 points. Holton (10-2, 7-0) will play three games in their home gym next week with North Muskegon coming in Monday followed by Grant on Wednesday and Hesperia Friday. Kent City (5-5, 4-3) goes on the road to face undefeated and Lakes 8 leader Orchard View on Monday. White Cloud 69 Lakeview 54 Coach Jones: “Our best team effort to date. Hats off to the Lakeview team and Coach Perez, they played their butts off tonight. We had our best balanced scoring tonight Sam Venema and Mason Ruether led with 15pts ,Taylor Bode 14pts, Alex Elder 11pts and Dexter Cox 9. All 9 players contributed tonight. Monday we host Walkerville.” Morley Stanwood 73 Hesperia 32 The Mohawks took a 7 point lead after one then went on an 11-2 run to the break for a 27-11 halftime lead. Coach Worcester: “I'm impressed with our offensive improvement since last time we played Morley. We only put up 9 pts last meeting. This time we put up 32 pts. Two starters were out this game. River Montague was out with a sprained ankle and Allistir Arnold was out for off court issues. Given the situation we played well. I am very happy with our sophomore Maddox Mosley. His performance tonight shows that he is getting more comfortable with the speed of the varsity game.” Mosley led the Panthers with 12 points. Hesperia (1-9, 1-5) will host Lakeview (0-9, 0-6) Monday. Girls Morley Stanwood 44 Hesperia 28 The visitors took an early lead and never let go as the ‘Hawks stayed close to undefeated Kent City in the Silver race. Coach Grodus: “ We got behind early and had to play uphill the rest of the way. To our credit, we played hard the entire game.” Emily Bayle counted 13 points and snared 6 steals while Emmi Tinkham pulled down 7 boards to go with her 9 points. Hesperia (3-5, 1-5) will host Lakeview Monday. Manistee 46 Holton 31 Ryann Robins led the Devs with 15 points with Madi Bosset adding 7 in the loss to the Chips.
