Errors , walks hurt Hesperia
White Cloud 21-16 Hesperia 1-6 In the opener White Cloud ran out to a huge lead in a wild first inning that saw Panther errors open the door for 13 Cloud players to cross the plate behind just 4 hits. In the bottom of the second inning WC wasn’t finished Kayla Burgess doubled, scoring two runs, Keira Baker doubled, scoring one run, Cook singled, scoring one run, Kaelyn Blanzy doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Kenzie Norberg singled, scoring one run. From the slab Emily Hedlund took control allowing just one unearned run and one hit while striking out 4 in 3 innings of work. Norberg, Blanzy, and Addyson Cook each collected two hits while Lillian Burgess drew three of the team’s 8 walks in the game. In the nightcap the Panthers put a pair of runners across in the top of the first then saw White Cloud strike back with 3 in the bottom half. Hesperia went back up in the second scoring twice due to errors but Kayla Burgess ripped a double to send home a pair of teammates to tie the score at 4. The Panthers kept the pressure on, scoring twice in the 3rd. The Cloud jumped into the lead in the bottom of the third when Chasity Vanallsburg singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Kenzie Norberg singled, scoring two runs. Then came the 4th and the floodgates opened as White Cloud pushed 8 runs across to seal the win and the sweep. Burgess got the start for the Cloud throwing 3 hitless innings despite the miscues that led to 6 unearned runs. Hedlund finished up in relief tossing a pair of shutout innings. Vanallsburg, Nina Bird, Norberg, Burgess, Baker, and Cook each collected a hit, Norberg led the team with two runs batted in.Kaylee Nichols tallied 4 of the team’s 9 stolen bases.
