Photos by Bobbie Cruzan At the ballfield, Friday Night in White Cloud, the Indians took on the Chippewa Hills Warriors. In Game #1 - The Indians started the scoring in the 2nd inning, with Christian Ringler leading off the inning with a deep line drive two bagger to left center. After a ground out, Reece Hewitt drove in Ringler with a hard hit single. Jayden Robinson then singled and scored on an error, for the Indians to take a 3-0 lead. In the 4th, Alex Cruzan singled, stole 2nd and was driven in by a single by Ringler, for a 4-0 lead. Chip Hills fought back in the 5th inning, by scoring a single run, on an error, and another 2 runs in the 6th innings to close the gap to 4-3. White Cloud started off the 6th inning with a strikeout, but followed that with a walk by KJ Strait, a single by Mason Ruether, Alex Cruzan was hit by a pitch, then Mason Cruzan stepped to the plate and smashed a single up the middle to drive in 2 insurance runs, for the final score of 6-3 White Cloud. On the mound, Mason Ruether had 12 strikeouts, 3 walks and gave up 3 runs, of which 2 were earned, in 5 1/3 innings, to pick up the win. Jayson Ruether came on in relief to strike out 4 of the 5 batters he faced, picking up the save. The offense was led by Christian Ringler with a double and a single, and Mason Cruzan with 2 singles and 2 RBI's. In Game #2, the Warriors scored 3 runs in the 3rd inning, and another run in the 4th to take a 4-0 lead. White Cloud responded with 2 runs in the 4th inning, led by a single by Mason Ruether and errors by Chip Hills. The Warriors scored another 2 runs in the 5th inning for a 6-2 lead. The Indians picked up a single run in the 5th inning on an RBI single by Mason Ruether, putting White Cloud down 6-3. White Cloud would not give up, in the 6th inning, after a lead off pop fly out, Christian Ringler singled to left field, Landyn McGowen hit into a fielder's choice, Reece Hewitt got aboard on an error and Jayden Robinson walked to load the bases with 2 outs. Mason Cruzan hit a line shot to right field to score 1 run, then KJ Strait laced a sharp single up the middle to drive in 2 more runs to knot the score at 6-6. In the bottom of the 7th with the scored tied 6-6, after a strikeout, Christian Ringler reached base on an error, and promptly stole 2nd base, the next batter grounded out to shortstop, then Freshmen Reece Hewitt stepped up to the plate and smashed a hard ground ball up the middle to drive in the speedy Ringler for the come from behind 7-6 win.
White Cloud's record now stands at 9-6-1, and will take on Lakeview next Tuesday in Lakeview.
