The White Cloud Boys’ Track and Field Team traveled to Kent City last Friday to battle 19 other teams at the Kent City Elite Track and Field Invitational. The Indians ended up 5th in the small school division with 34 points. Junior Jace Silverthorn led White Cloud, finishing third overall and second in the small school division in the shot put with a throw of 47’01.25”, a personal best throw by over two feet. He was followed in the event by senior Joel Bradley, who finished fifth overall and third in the small school division with a throw of 45’05”, also a personal best. Joel and Jace switched their order in the discus, with Joel throwing 130’08” and Jace throwing 119’07”, good for fourth and sixth overall, respectively. In the other field events, White Cloud picked up a bevy of fifth place overall finishes. Jayden Robinson tied for fifth in the high jump at 5’08”, Romeo Johnson finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 18’07.5”, and Nathan Ciolk tied for fifth in the pole vault with a jump of 10’06”. In the running events, the 4 x 800 meter team of Nathan Ciolk, Kobe Canning, Kaleb Canning, and Carson Foondle finished fifth overall with a time of 9:15.68. Rounding out the scoring for White Cloud, senior Nik Parks-Josephson ran a season best time of 44.38 seconds to finish 8th overall. The boys had 18 personal bests performances to finish highest out of all of the division 4 schools at the invitational. The next highest division 4 team was Muskegon West Michigan Christian, who scored 20 points for the evening. The White Cloud boys and girls put their 4-0 CSAA Silver Division records on the line Monday, May 9, when they face equally undefeated rivals Kent City in Kent City. The winner of that dual meet will have the upper hand at the conference title when all six teams in the CSAA Silver Division meet in Holton May 13 for the conference championship.
