Photos by Brent Foondle Manistee 40 White Cloud 34 White Cloud’s season came to an end Monday night but Coach Wilk’s team didn’t go down easy as they battled out of an early 9-0 hole to make a game of it. Coach Wilk:”To start the game we came out with a little too much nervous energy.Once we settled down we started to score.” Down 14-7 after one, WC edged up on the Mariners and the teams went to intermission with Manistee holding a 21-16 lead. After the break the Cloud battled to within a bucket at one point but the Mariners got some key baskets and led by 6 going into the final frame. Freshman phenom Andi Vincent lit it up in the 4th knocking down a trio of triples and WC crawled within 2 points again but Manistee battled against an inspired Cloud defense and came up with the shots they needed. With time ticking down WC was forced to put the Mariners on the line where they converted enough to hang on for the win. Coach Wilk: “A few less turnovers or a few more made free throws and easy buckets and we could have won this one. “We are graduating two seniors who have been great leaders to our younger players, and return a lot of experience next year. I believe if we work hard this next off-season we could make some waves next season.” One of those players is Vincent who canned 6 from beyond the arc and finished with a game high 22 points.
