On Thursday the Tigers got their second dual match in after multiple cancellations due to the cold and snow. The team battled the wind and cold, but fought hard winning many games before eventually falling 5-3 to a veteran Big Rapids team. Jill Arends at #3 Singles and Kirstyn Throop at #4singles picked up wins as Arends won 7-6 (5) 6-2 and Throop didn't give up a game winning 6-0 6-0. Kaitlyn Pascoe and Liberty Pleune won 6-3 6-3 at #4 Doubles.
Friday perennial top 10 team Traverse City St Francis for their first home dual match of the season. The home team got solid play from all 8 flights as Kathyrn Stong and Brooklyn Presler won 5 games at #1 Doublesand . Jill Arends battled for almost an hour and a half with many long hard hitting rallies, winning 6 games at #3 singles. Saturdays tournament at North Pointe Christian featured most of the state's top division 4 teams who will be competing for the state championship at the end of the season. TC St. Francis proved they should be in the top 10 rankings finishing in a tie for first with #2 ranked Jackson Lumen Christi. The Academy of Sacred Heart, state ranked #3, was missing their #2 singles player and was only 1 point behind the top two teams. #8 ranked North Pointe Christian was 4th, #9 North Muskegon was 5th and Grant was 2 points behind in 6th. Grant's number one singles, Olivia Keelean had to face the best player in the tournament first from JLC, but came back to beat Kalamazoo Christian in her last match of the day. The Tiger's #2 singles player, Emerson Cole went 3 sets with North Muskegon to open the day, and then bounced back to beat Lansing Catholic and Kalamazoo Christian to go 2-1 on the day. Jill Arends at #3 singles also beat Lansing Catholic. Kirstyn Throop finished in 3rd place, beating NPC 6-2 6-0 in the first round and then taking out North Muskegon in her last match. The Tiger's #1 doubles team of Presler and Stong went 3 sets with runner up TCSF in the first round and finished with a win vs Kalamazoo Chr. Delgado and Patin at #2 Doubles played North Muskegon to a second set tiebreak. Elvira Cruz and Cecilia Ovalle finished in fourth place but played a great 2nd set against runner up TCSF and JLC. Kaitlin Pascoe and Liberty Pleune took out North Muskegon in a tough 3 set battle at 4 Doubles.
