Coach Jones: “After the first couple of minutes we took control of the game. Still not where we need to be, but happy with the effort especially in the second half. Wednesday we host a very good Pentwater team. We will need to play better from start to finish.” Jayden Robinson finished with a game high 24 points while Coleson Cruzan, Jacob Zimmer and David Higgs canned 14 apiece.Reece Hewitt controlled the glass for the visitors while playing some strong defense as well. Tuesday Grant 81 Hart 69 The Tigers got off to a slow start as the Pirates notched the first 10 points of the contest. Poor shooting and some defensive lapses plagued Grant in the early going but they fought back to trail by 22-20 at the end of the first quarter and led 45-37 at halftime. The Pirates battled back and grabbed a 57-53 edge heading into the final frame putting the 6 game win streak in jeopardy. Then came the 4th. The Tigers exploded, pouring in 28 points and holding the Pirates to 12 as they secured their 7th win in a row to start the season. Coach George: "I'm guessing most of the people in the building wondered why I didn't call a timeout when we were down 10-0 and 17-5, but I wanted to teach our guys they need to work it out on the court without me calling a time out, and they did. I'm proud of them. "Hart is a very good team and well coached. This was a good test for us.”. The Tigers put 5 players in double figures with the usual suspects leading the way: Sincere Hatch (10), Ethan DeLong (11), Zander Powell (11), Blake Rider (18) and Zaiden Phillips (31). Grant (3-0, 7-0) gets back into Red Division play on Friday when they host the Coyotes of Reed City Montague 71 Newaygo 42 The Wildcats took control of this one early on and never allowed the Lions back in the game.Huner Yearsovich led the Lions in scoring with 17 points while Blake Sanborn scored 10 and Isaiah Miedema finished with 8. Kent City 60 Fremont 48 Wednesday Pentwater 55 White Cloud 49 Coach Jones: “We trailed from start to finish in this one tonight. We tied the game up a couple of times and then we would fall behind eight or nine points and we would claw our way back. We just couldn't take the lead. The Pentwater team is well coached and very talented. Proud of how hard we fought tonight. Offensively we shot pretty good but defensively and on the boards is where we came up short.” Jayden Robinson led the team in scoring with 16 white Coleson Cruzan knocked down 14 and Brady Strait also reached double figures with 11 White Cloud (1-1, 7-3) returns to White Division play Friday when they host Kent City.
