Tuesday Results: Shriver, Strait make their mark in wins

A conference clash between a pair of talented teams went to overtime with the hosts pulling out the victory.
The Lions jumped out to a 14-6 lead after one but the Packers fought their way back to forge a tie as the teams went to intermission. In the third the visitors once again leapt  in front to lead by a half dozen heading into the final frame. For the second time the Packers battled back with Calla Miller draining a triple late in the fourth to tie the game. In overtime Chloe Shriver took over hitting 5 straight points at the start of OT and the Packers made their free throws down the stretch to ice the conference win.
In a balanced scoring attack  Paige Vandenberg led the team with 19 points, Chloe Shriver hit for 13 including the crucial 5 spot in overtime, Natalie Jamieson dropped in 10 and Calla Miller scored  9 including.
Jaylee Long led all scorers with 23 points.  She also pulled in 7 rebounds. Fremont moves to 5-3 overall (3-1 in conference). While Newaygo falls to 4-2 overall (2-2 in conference).
Newaygo visits Tri County Friday while Fremont takes their game to Grant.

Finally back in action Tuesday after a three week sabbatical the White Cloud girls showed no sign of rust while  getting back on a winning track with a convincing road win over the Red Devils.
Alexis Strait has continued to develop her skills in her second Varsity year and her 27 point performance Tuesday shows how far she has come. The sophomore rained down 7 from beyond the arc grabbed a quartet of steals and handed out a ;air of assists.
Hannah Brown once again stuffed the stat sheet knocking down 23 points dishing out 8 dimes and picking the Holton pockets for 5 steals and Hallie Schultz took down 4 rebounds while dropping in 9 points.
The Indians are now 4-2 with a 2-1 record in conference play. Friday they welcome in the Mohawks of Morley Stanwood, also 2-1 in the Silver.
