Another Comeback, A First Loss, An Offensive Drought
BOYS Newaygo 49 Evart 45 Newaygo was able to come up with a solid 4th quarter to get the road win over the Wildcats.. Down by 4 entering the final frame the Lions once again clawed their way back to grab a one point lead at the 30 second mark. The game was tight throughout the contest and came down to the visitors hitting those key free throws down the stretch. The Newaygo defense held Evart to just 6 4th quarter points Bryce Decker paced the Lion scoring attack knocking down16 points and grabbing 8 rebounds while Caris Nelson hit for 10 points and Blake Kerr dropped in 9. Newaygo (2-0, 3-3) returns to action after the holiday break with a home game against the Bulldogs of Ravenna Baldwin 61 White Cloud 39 White Cloud suffered their first loss of the season in a battle of the unbeatens with the Panthers Coach Jones: “We picked the wrong night to play bad defense and not hit shots.A bad combination for any team. Coach Thomasma:"I thought our girls competed and played better than we did on Friday. We have a young group that is seeing the sustained intensity that is needed to compete on the Varsity level against good competition. I'm seeing good things in spurts but we need to be more consistent if we want to play with and beat good teams."
