![]() Justin D. Gunneson, age 51 of Newaygo, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2020 in White Cloud. Justin was born on May 3, 1969 in Hart, Michigan to Roger and Mary Jo (Yager) Gunneson and later graduated from Ludington High School. Justin married Lynne Atwood on September 18, 1992 in White Cloud. Justin joined the United States Army after graduation and served in the United States Army for 18 years prior to his honorable discharge. Justin served multiple deployments in Africa, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Iraq and had been stationed most of his time at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. At the age of 38, Justin completed the Green Beret training and was honorably discharge in March 2015 as Staff Sergeant. Justin enjoyed hunting, fishing, being in the outdoors, building and construction. Justin had also competed on the rodeo circuit as a bronc rider and had reached 10th in the nation during his time of riding. Justin is survived by his wife of 28 years, Lynne of Newaygo; his children, Joe (Erica) Zumbo and their children, Skylar, Bella, and Lincoln Zumbo of Pittsboro, North Carolina; Hunter (Tabatha) Gunneson and their children, Zayden and Grace of Newaygo; Brooke (Ori) Gunneson of Newaygo; Tyler Gunneson of Newaygo; his mother, Marilyn Jo Yager of Kentucky; his father and stepmother, Roger (Sharon) Gunneson of Aurora, Illinois; his sister, Jody (Travis) Coomer of Kentucky; half-sisters, Courtney Gunneson and Kaitlyn Gunneson; his mother and father-in-law, Gordon & Karen Atwood of White Cloud; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Kurt (Donna) Atwood of Fremont; Annette Courtade of Ravenna; Gordy (Tanya) Atwood of White Cloud; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Justin was preceded in death by his brothers-in-laws, Rick Atwood and Greg Courtade. GRAVESIDE SERVICES : Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 11am at the Hillside Cemetery 2110 E. 128th Street Grant MI 49327 with Full Military Honors given. Friends may consider the Veterans Crisis Center for Suicide Prevention for memorial contributions in memory of Justin.
