TV 13 Questions White Cloud Mayor N3 News Team White Cloud found itself in the news again Wednesday night when the ‘TV 13 On Your Side’ investigative reporter David Bailey went to the air with a series of questions regarding the status of the business owned by Mayor Don Barnhard. Responding to what he called ‘tips’ from local sources who expressed concern over having seen Mayor Barnhard doing work for the city, the reporter said he had spent the past few months... ...gathering invoices from the city that totaled over $100,000 since 2006, an average of about $10,000 a year.
The focus of Mr. Bailey's investigation, however seemed to call into question whether the mayor’s business is actually registered with the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). The research he presented indicated that neither Barnhard Construction nor the company BHW Inc. that Mr. Barnhard reported to Mr. Bailey on camera to be his business name currently exist. Both were dissolved due to annual reports not being filed in a timely manner, according to Mr. Bailey’s report. Last summer David Bailey also visited White Cloud and reported on the snafu that occurred with Consumers Energy regarding billing discrepancies causing the lights in most of the city to be turned off for several years. They were turned back on this past Spring when an agreement was made with the energy company to refund over-payments. The next White Cloud City Council meeting will take place this Monday, September 19th at 6pm at the city offices located at 12 N Charles in White Cloud. Comments are closed.
