![]() From the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office: This morning (4-19-21) at approximately 9:46am, during the course of assisting Newaygo County deputies with locating suspects involved in a reported breaking and entering on Baseline, in Wilcox Township, the suspect vehicle was located by a Mecosta County Sheriff's Office deputy. Upon attempting a traffic stop of the vehicle on Mecosta County's 7 Mile Rd near Elder the suspect fled the Michigan State Trooper and Mecosta County Deputy. The pursuit continued down Northland Drive through Mecosta, Montcalm and into Kent County. The driver, a 36 year old male from Evart and his passenger, a 40 year old female from Evart, both were apprehended a short time later after they had abandoned the vehicle in the Sand Lake area and had fled on foot into a wooded area. The two are currently being held at the Mecosta County Jail, awaiting charges for the breaking and entering, fleeing and eluding, among a host of other charges from the events today and over the past month throughout Mecosta, Osceola and Newaygo Counties. The arrests were the result of communication and teamwork from each of the agencies involved. Assisting in the arrest, along with the Mecosta and Newaygo County Sheriff's Office and Michigan State Police were the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety, the Kent County Sheriff's Office, DNR Law Enforcement Division and Meceola Consolidated Central Dispatch Authority.
