![]() Newaygo County Road Commission Awarded for Safety Record The award was given by the County Road Commission Self Insurance Fund otherwise known as CRASIF. CRASIF is a Michigan based group fund that provides workers’ compensation insurance to road commissions. The Newaygo County Road Commission was awarded for having... ...the lowest employee injury rate among road commissions of it’s size for the 6th year in a row!
“Road commissions that have lower than average injury rates qualify to be on our Honor Roll,” said Jim deSpelder, Administrator of CRASIF. “They should be applauded for their achievement.” The employees of the Newaygo County Road Commission are working on the roadway every day, in extreme weather conditions and are exposed to potentially dangerous situations. Working on the roads is physically demanding and puts workers at risk of being injured by passing vehicles. “We provide safety training but it is the employees that apply it to their daily work and wear the proper safety equipment to help keep them safe. They take safety seriously and deserve all of the recognition.” said Kelly Smith, Manager. “On behalf of the Newaygo County Board of Road Commissioners and myself, we applaud the efforts of the staff here at the Road Commission." "While working in the conditions that they are faced with on a daily basis, they have obtained a safety record that is second to none across the State of Michigan. We are blessed to have them as partners in servicing the motorists of Newaygo County.” Comments are closed.
