 Community Foundation YAC Members Volunteer at Children’s Christmas On December 14, members of the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) from Fremont Area Community Foundation volunteered at TrueNorth’s annual Children’s Christmas Program. The Children’s Christmas Program helps to ensure that children of families who are struggling financially still receive gifts at Christmas. Families are able to select from age-appropriate gifts like toys, books, games, and winter gear. YAC members were... ...able to help in a variety of ways, including stocking shelves, directing shoppers, and helping to carry items for shoppers. “The Christmas program gave me a better understanding of the needs in our community,” said Kevin Atwood, YAC President and White Cloud Public Schools senior. “And I loved seeing how the event impacted so many families.” The Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Committee is a student-run committee focused on meeting the needs of Newaygo County youth through grantmaking and service learning. The committee is comprised of 24 high school students representing Fremont, Grant, Hesperia, Newaygo, and White Cloud public high schools as well as the homeschooling community. Comments are closed.
