Board Holds Final Meeting Before The Players Change By Ken DeLaat In their final meeting of the year the Newaygo County Board of Commissioners bid adieu to outgoing commissioners Steve Johnson and Larry Lethorn as well as County Clerk Drew Robinson who recorded the minutes of the board for the final time. Commissioners as well as County Administrator Chris Wren expressed their appreciation to the departing elected officials for their service to the county. Commissioners also selected the following candidates to fill positions on county boards: Area Agency on Aging-Marilyn Snell Board of Public Works- Doug Harmon Brownfield Authority Board- Todd Blake and Holly Moon Parks Commission-Steve Hatting and Stanley Stroven Pere Marquette & White River Zoning Boards- Charles Chandler and Ryan Coffey Road Commission- William Gonyon County Library Board- Cynthia LaBelle Mental Health Board- Steve Johnson Todd Wolf and Dale Platz were appointed to the Construction Board of Appeals The Board approved the White River Evacuation Plan submitted by Emergency Services Director Abby Watkins. The plan is designed to save lives minimize damage and enhance response operations during an emergency involving the dam in White Cloud. In other business the Board approved the submission of the Land Use Educator grant application to the Fremont Area Community Foundation, approved the contract with the Corrections Officers Union, and approved agreements with Mark Schropp, David Jaunese, Diane Longoria and Ryan Good to provide public defender services for the Circuit Court’s Juvenile Division.
