To Support the Autism Community

Annual walk draws over 200

“You’ve Got A Friend in Me” was the theme of the recent Walk For Autism held at the Fremont Football/Athletic Field.  Over 200 people turned out to support the Newaygo County Autism Community. The organization strives to raise awareness by advocating, supporting and having resources throughout Newaygo County for individuals with ASD and their families. All monies raised in Newaygo County stays in the county and helps fund local autism programs and services.

Sheryl Schipper and family presented this year’s Ken Schipper Autism Acceptance Award to  Nate Naples, who noted ““I am honored to uphold Ken’s legacy of empowering autistic students and the autistic community as an educator. Likewise, I am beyond grateful for the unconditional support of Hesperia Community Schools and the many people who support me in countless ways to serve our wonderful students!” 
 
Kathe Scott, President of the Newaygo County Autism Community, would like to thank the following volunteers: Adam and Lola Dyga, Brian and Trixie Strong,  Disability Network group , Russ Tindall, Jason Baker and Fremont Public Schools.  In addition, Kathe notes, it wouldn’t be possible without the generous sponsors:
