![]() The Suggestion Box- Weekend Happenings By N3 Holiday Helpers Our area is rife with Christmas Spirit and we at N3 World Headquarters and Holly Haven are resolute in our mission to keep our readers aware of every fa la la and ho ho ho that comes to our attention. Last week was the Christmas Walk in Newaygo while our county seat hosted Christmas in the Cloud and this weekend the holiday action... ...moves to Grant and Fremont for their festivities.
Like a parade? Of course you do. Only the Grinchiest among us could turn up their nose at a parade and Fremont’s Illumination Christmas Parade is always a treat for onlookers and generally produces a few surprises for the folks lining Main Street from the Fire Department to Veteran’s Park beginning at 6pm Friday. It’s fun, family friendly, and (best of all) free. Saturday head to Grant and grab a wagon ride, snare a little hot chocolate, take a peek at the live Nativity and catch Santa who will be visiting several locations. These holiday activities in our Gateway city are also associated with that fine four letter word….free. And the event you will not want to miss? The one that may have eluded you last year and later when you found out how wonderful it was you vowed to ensure your attendance this year? The Concert. Make your way to the Grant Fine Arts Center at 6pm Sunday for the Musical Event of the Season when the 29th Annual Newaygo Community Christmas Concert takes to the stage to perform your Christmas favorites. (see the ad on our home page). Over 40 members of the Community Choir have been putting in long hours of rehearsal to create an evening of melodious merriment. In addition to the talented troupe of vocalists who make up this spirited company there will be artful arrangements from the Children’s Choir, solo performances, and an ensemble or two tossed in as well. Having a little trouble embracing the Christmas spirit? This annual musical extravaganza aimed at celebrating the reason for the season will jar you from your humbug doldrums and put a happy holiday smile on even the Scroogiest of folks. There are refreshments served afterwards and a bit of fellowship time to interact with friends and neighbors and listen, while the event is free of charge there will be a goodwill offering with the proceeds going to the ministries that serve our community. So pony up people! It is indeed the season of giving and this is an opportunity for you to give what you will to assist in the fine work being done locally to spread the Christmas message of kindness and love. Ok there’s a weekend filled with festive family fun, folks. And if you're inclined to do a bit of shopping as well this weekend one of just two before the Big Day? Shop local. It truly helps us all. “It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.”- W.T. Ellis
