Buckley’s presentation will be on Thursday, April 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Tamarac, 1401 West Main Street, Fremont. “Financial health and well-being are important to families in Newaygo County as many of us strive to live within our means and save money for a rainy day,” said Josh Gustafson, Gerber Memorial’s director of community health... ...“We’re excited that a financial authority right here in our community can join us and share some of his thoughts about financial fitness. John’s presentation is especially relevant as Michigan, including the Newaygo County community, continues to recover from the 2008 Great Recession.”
Buckley’s presentation will focus on five strategies people can use to make sure their financial plan is on track for success. Refreshments will be provided. Space is limited and child watch is available with a reservation. To register, call 231.924.3073. Buckley’s presentation comes as Michigan and the nation celebrate Financial Literacy Month in April. In 2016, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder officially proclaimed April as Financial Literacy Month in the state. In his proclamation, Gov. Snyder cited the fact that 20 percent of Americans continue to spend more than they earn, and 60 percent of Americans have not saved money for the future – even after the 2008 recession that hit Michigan’s economy hard. National Financial Literacy Month has been observed since 2004.
