![]() Community Foundation Youth Advisory Committee Awards Six Grants The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) of Fremont Area Community Foundation recently announced the results of its YAC grant round, awarding funding to six local agencies and programs serving youth. Organizations receiving funding include Alpha Family Center of Newaygo, Newaygo County Council for the Arts, Newaygo County Museum and Heritage Center, Newaygo County Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, Stage Door Players, and TrueNorth Community Services. Grants were awarded to a variety of programs and will support learning experiences in the arts, infant safe sleep kits, initiatives addressing teen pregnancy and healthy relationships, connecting youth to local history, and more. Grant applications were reviewed by YAC members who come from each Newaygo County public high school and the local homeschool community. The group used the results of a needs assessment survey distributed in local schools to develop funding priorities. YAC members also conducted site visits before their grant application opened, both to share information about the grant funding available and to learn more about local nonprofit organizations. YAC grants are awarded once a year to programs impacting local youth. Applications are available in February and due on March 1.
