It was a clean shaven group of police officers joining a beardless Sheriff Mendham when he presented two checks Tuesday in the amount of $755.00 each to the DHHS Foster Kids Christmas program, and the Newaygo County Autism Community. The donations were collected in the form of fines to the Sheriff's Office employees for growing facial hair during the months of October and November. Typically employees must be clean shaven except for a mustache. Employees were allowed to grow facial hair during this time, however they were fined $25.00 each month. A statement from the NCSD read: “Today we had the honor of giving back to the community that we love to serve.”
