“Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial is thrilled to host the inaugural ‘Your Heart Matters’ event to help promote heart health for women in our community,” said COO Shelly Johnson. “Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the country, causing one in three deaths each year. We want to do our part to give women the support to take action early and in the process, build a healthier community here in Newaygo County.”
Brandee Chase, RN, said: “The warning signs for women can be different than men so it’s important that we share this critical information. I see first-hand, every day, how early detection and screenings can save lives. That’s why we’re inviting every woman in our community to join us at our free ‘Your Heart Matters’ event on February 18 to learn more about heart disease, risks and small changes women can make to stay healthy and active.”
