I mean, seriously, who doesn’t love the Wizard of Oz? It’s a great story, one of a series of books about Oz by L. Frank Baum that have been loved by all ages and it also has the notoriety of being banned at times. Even in the mid 80’s a group of fundamentalists attempted to get it out of the school library because the book depicted witches that were nice. But we digress. The outstanding thespians from LionHeart productions in Grant who are delivering the goods include 44 actors who will take to the stage supported by another 20 who will work the production end of the performance. Lead roles include Kateri Schneider as Dorothy, Valerie Sweers as Auntie Em, Luke Lewis does double time as Uncle Henry and as an Emerald City guard. while Jamie Evans, Dakota Acosta and Spencer Escareno play the trio Dorothy collects on the way to see the Wizard, a role played by Devon Conley. The pair of witch roles on stage will be handled by Avery Mills (nice) and Anna Stephans (not so nice) Then of course there are a sea of Munchkins, a swarm of flying monkeys and other parts that play in the production. It starts tonight so if you're not going to the Newaygo game get your behind over to Grant and catch this wonderful slice of community theater. Here’s the schedule. Friday November 8th 7:00 PM Saturday November 9th- 7:00 PM Sunday, November 10th- 2:00 PM. Friday, November 15th- 7:00 PM Saturday, November 16th- 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM
