Grand Valley Piano Chamber Series concert at the Dogwood on November 17
The Fremont Area Community Foundation invites you to experience a wonderful concert by the Grand Valley Piano Chamber Series on Sunday, November 17 at 3:00 p.m. at the Dogwood Center's Black Box! Come on out and enjoy pianist Sookkyung Cho, violinist Clara Lyon, and cellist Hannah Collins as they perform Franz Schubert's B Flat Piano Trio and Antonin Dvorak's Piano Trio in G minor. Director of the GV Piano Chamber Series, Sookkyung Cho is Associate Professor of Piano at Grand Valley State University. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has appeared in venues such as Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Chicago Cultural Center, Sarasota Opera House, Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Montréal in Canada, Château de Fontainebleau in France, Bilkent Piano Festival in Turkey, and Xi’an Conservatory in China. Dr. Cho received a bachelor’s degree from Juilliard, and earned a master’s degree at Peabody and a doctorate at Juilliard as a C.V. Starr fellow. Clara Lyon is an accomplished soloist, chamber musician, and curator. For the last eight seasons she was a violinist and the Director of Programs for the Chicago-based Spektral Quartet, during which time they were nominated for three GRAMMY awards, commissioned and performed dozens of new works for string quartet, and were in residence at the University of Chicago’s Music Department. Hannah Collins is a dynamic performer and has recently performed with A Far Cry, Bach Aria Soloists, and The Knights. She holds degrees in biomedical engineering and music from Yale, Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and CUNY Grad Center. She teaches at the University of Kansas. The Grand Valley Piano Chamber Series (GVPCS) was founded in 2021 to share the joy and beauty of classical piano chamber music with all in West Michigan and present performances of the highest caliber.
