Story and Photos by Alexis Mercer
The majority of athletes who toed the line today across the state in the MHSAA cross country Regional races would run the last race of their season. But the athletes in Newaygo County fared well in this one-race-takes-all setting.
In the sport of Cross Country, there are two ways to qualify for state. In order to qualify as a team (seven runners), a team must....
..place in the top three at the Regional race. One can also qualify as an individual by placing in the top 15 runners.
These athletes move on to run at the State Finals at Michigan International Speedway on November 5.
