Grant 42 White Cloud 24
Nine different Tiger players found their way into the scoring column led by Laura Bouwkamp and Goirgia Paleari who each popped in 10 points.
“We have not had a lot of practice time together but it was evident that we have great senior leadership from Laura Bouwkamp and Ashley Herin,” said Grant Head Coach Paige Paulson. “We have a great mix of players and tonight showed that everyone brings something to the table.
“With freshmen sophomores, juniors, and seniors, playing...
...significant minutes it allows stay fresh and compete on a consistent basis.”
Fremont 36 Holton 34
These two neighboring teams put on an epic battle in the season opener for both schools. The Packers and Red Devils went at it hard fighting for the lead from the opening tip to the finish.
With the score knotted at 34 and under a minute to play freshman Natalie Jamieson had a look at a 3 pointer but it didn’t go down and Holton came down the court running the clock before Bre Harris was called for her 5th foul. Holton missed the front end of the one and one, Jamieson pulled down the rebound and after a quick set of passes she got the ball near the spot of her missed shot and hit nothing but net for the win.
“It was a very exciting and very hard fought game back and forth the whole way,” said Packer Head Coach John Krim. “Bre was very good for us finishing with 20 points and 6 steals and Natalie in her first varsity game had 8 including that game winner.”
