Senior captain Shayne Gardner captured the lone singles win and #2 Doubles finished off a 3 set match to earn the hard fought win.

...victory after dropping the first set. Paired with junior Tony Hubbard, the team won the 2nd set 6-2 and the 3rd set 6-4. The road team won 1, 3, and 4 doubles as well for the sweep at all the doubles flights. The TIgers also won the 5th doubles flight with freshman Dustin Slachter and sophomore Jake Kruger, in a come from behind pro set win, 8-6.
"Sparta is always usually a tough battle in a 3 set match that could fall either way,” Said Tiger Head Coach Scott Zerlaut. “This year they have only lost a couple matches to state ranked teams. Their team is very good with many seniors. Very similar to ours, except they have all seniors in the singles where we only have 1, but we have 6 in the doubles compared to their 4. “
“I was proud of the way the guys played tonight, He added. “ We had 3 duals last week, plus the conference tournament Saturday where 3 flights had to go back to Ludington to finish yesterday, practice rained out Friday and to top it all off, last week was homecoming week. The guys could have made excuses, but instead they fought hard and picked up their 7th win of the season."
Grant travels to Traverse City St. Francis for Regional play Friday .
“We got a handful of the #3 seeds,” said Coach Zerlaut. “ Whitehall and TCSF are the 1 and 2 seeds. We played very close to Whitehall in a handful of flights in the dual and at the conference tournament. “
“ I think we are the 3rd best team. It will be a matter of whether we can get enough points to qualify for the state tournament. We need 18 points if we don't finish 1st or 2nd since there are 9 teams. It will be close and we will need to upset a few of the higher seeds.”
