In a clash between two CSAA teams, the Reed City Coyotes used their speed and power to rush past the Newaygo Lions 21-7.
In each of the first three quarters, the Coyotes were consistent, scoring one touchdown in each. In the first quarter, Reed City’s halfback broke a secondary tackle and ran in for 6 points. The Coyotes went into...
...the locker room at halftime up 14-0 after a long pass to score their second TD.
The third quarter ended with Reed City up 21-0 after another long pass. It wasn’t until the 4th quarter when the Lions put points up on the scoreboard when Jaime Pike broke free for a rushing touchdown.
The Lions held their own on the line of scrimmage and came out injury free; both factors which made Head Coach Andy Busch happy. “We need every player on our team to be healthy right now. Our young kids are growing up each week. Reed City played physical football.”
Newaygo goes 0-2 into their first home game against CSAA powerhouse Chippewa Hills. The Warriors beat Fremont on Friday 49-0.
Reed City goes 2-0 to Fremont on September 9.
