Panthers Go Overtime Twice, Fall In District Final

The Panthers put forth some significant offensive firepower during district play Saturday making it to the championship game but falling one run short of moving on to the Regionals.

...7th then scored 4 times in the extra frame and held off a Tiger rally to move on to the Championship game. Mariah Stitt ripped a quintet of singles scoring 3 times in the process and driving home a run. Claire Rumsey also crossed the plate 3 times drawing a trio of walks to go with her single while Alyssa Miller and Kaecie Hornsby each picked up a pair of RBI’s.
The finals saw Hesperia and Montague locked up in another wild high scoring affair as the Panthers broke open a 1-1 tie with 4 second inning runs. The Wildcats scored twice then ran off 5 more in the third to take an 8-3 lead. Hesperia countered with an 8 run rally in the 4th to retake the lead at 13-8. Montague’s offense was relentless putting up 2 in their half of the 4th and following up with 3 in the 5th to tie and adding one in the 6th to take the lead heading into the final frame. The Panthers pushed across the tying run and sent the game into extra innings with the Wildcats scoring the winning run in the 9th to move on to Regional play.
Masen Majersky drove home 3 runs with a double and single and Rumsey doubled twice scoring both times and knocking in 2. Hornsby and Stitt each added 2 RBI’s.
