No rest for this defense. The Packers came out determined to shut down the Tiger offense and succeeded holding Grant to just 4 first quarter points. When they were able to break free the basket seemed to have a lid on it for the Tiger shooters.
On the other end the points scored by Bre Harris (14) and Anna Patenge (12) provided the Pack with the offense needed to secure the win. Natalie Jamieson anchored the defense pulling down 11 boards and snaring a pair of steals.
Goirgia Paleari led the Tigers with 6 points.
The Packers welcomed back Kristina Ekkel who played in her first game since being idled by a torn ACL more than a year ago. Ekkel made it on the season stat list, contributing 2 points to the Packer win. A victory that ensures a winning season for the Packers.
“It was a goal of our team to win more games than we lose and I am so proud of the effort and hard work they have put in to achieve that goal,” said Coach John Krim after the win.
Fremont (7-6, 11-8) will be heading west on 82 on Friday to face Tri County then return to the Viking gym on Monday to open District Tournament play with a rematch against Grant (5-8, 7-12) who will finish off their regular season matching up with their rivals from up the road.
