By Alexis Mercer
Madison Cook, Justice Long and Faith Smith traveled to Comstock Park today for the MHSAA Division 3 State Finals Track Meet.
Each qualified in his/her respective event at the Regional Meet held at Shepherd High School on May 20.
Madison Cook competed first in the day at pole vault. She ended her high school career by vaulting 8'0". This was Madison's first year competing in this technical event. She will continue her running career by running for Davenport University in the fall.
Justice Long ran in preliminary race of the 110 meter hurdles, missing the finals by 6 100ths of a second. He also ran in the 300 meter hurdles, racing in the final heat. He missed medaling by 1 place, finishing 9th. Long was injured in the Meijer All-Star meet on Wednesday, May 24, so just stepping foot on the line today was an accomplishment. He will continue his career by running for Cornerstone University next year.
Faith Smith rounded out the competition for the Lions, jumping in the long jump. Faith finished her high school career with a jump of 14'8.25".
