Newaygo Band Caps Off Stellar Season With Silver At State

This past Saturday the Newaygo Marching Band traveled to Ford Field to compete in the 2016 MCBA State Championships. After an incredibly successful season, the Newaygo Marching Band placed 2nd in the State for Flight IV.
Their show entitled “Resurrection” followed the life cycle of a phoenix with movements “Fire”, “Ashes”, and...
...“Resurrection”. The band put on a spectacular final performance and came home as silver medalists.
“This season was incredibly successful!” said Band Director Katie Baynes. “The students put in hundreds of hours of dedication to make this season successful I'm very proud of the band students at Newaygo and am looking forward to our next competitive season."
Senior Caleb Schultz served as Drum Major this season.
“Caleb is the student leader of the band and has been an amazing leader and very inspirational to the band students here,” added Director Baynes.
The Newaygo Marching Band would like to thank all the administrators, parents, staff, students, and community members who helped make this season successful. The Newaygo Marching Band also wants extend a special thanks to Dr. Peg Mathis (Newaygo Superintendent) and Chris Cronk (Director of Transportation) for driving the buses to State Championships.
