Lions Snap Streak

Newaygo 70 Tri County 42
The Lions were looking to put the brakes on a 5 game slide that saw the team slip to the middle of the pack in the CSAA Gold.
The team that began the season running past their first 6 opponents was suddenly struggling. The Lions averaged over 70 points game in those early victories an output that dropped by nearly 20 points in the 5 losses.
And Monday was their opportunity to...
...right the ship as they faced a Viking team yet to post a win on the season.
But it wasn’t going to come easy.
Newaygo worked to a 12-8 lead after the first quarter but could not shake a determined TC squad who battled their way back to within a point at the half.
Once the teams returned from intermission it was all Lions as they fired in 25 3rd quarter points to forge an 18 point lead then held the Vikes to just 6 points in the final frame to ice the win.
“We did a nice job in the third quarter getting deflections and attacking the rim,” said Lion Coach Joe Barrette.
Connor Swinehart led the scoring parade with 18 points while muscling in for 8 rebounds on the night. Mitch Karrip knocked down 11 points and Jacob Polasek hit for 10.
Newaygo (4-4, 7-5) will board the bus for Remus Friday to take on Chippewa Hills (2-6,4-6). The Warriors continue to search for some consistency on offense and as a result have dropped 4 out of their last 5.
Walkerville 71 White Cloud 48
The Wildcats (6-6) visited the Cloud Monday night and came away with the win. Buck Seabrook and Andy Newfer each had 10 to lead the Indians (1-5, 1-10) who will host CSAA Silver co-leader Kent City on Friday.
